  1. I give this book 5 stars because of the combination between realistic fiction and fantasy. While Kiranmala is a complete kick-butt demon slayer, she’s also an awkward teen. This aspect of her story gives the reader something to connect to. I also quite enjoy any Indian-based mythology novels, especially with female protagonists.

  2. The Serpent’s Secret is a great book and I read it for Book Club. It was great in every way except somewhere in the middle, it got slightly boring, but it picked back up again

  6. I liked reading this book because of the mixture of fantasy and mythology with some realistic fiction as well. I enjoyed the humor and also liked how the author added family trouble and different conflicts. It got a little boring when they weren’t doing anything, and the details were extremely detailed (maybe a little too much) but overall it was a good story.

  10. I liked the book a lot because she’s just a normal girl who then realizes she’s a demon slayer. She’s a normal kid who goes to school until her parents see a demon. In summary, it was a fun read and it does not really get boring. It’s similar to Percy Jackson but it has Indian mythology, not Greek mythology.

  11. It is a great combination of fantasy and realism in one great story. The fact that she had to learn all about demon slaying reminds me of Harry Potter learning about the wizarding world (I love the Harry Potter series)
